The History Channel was in need of a brand refresh that could relate to long time fans of the network, while reaching a wider audience. I worked with the team to refresh and update the brand across all visual touch points: print collateral, digital + social content, video, experiences, and key art.
For the refresh we stripped away the elements often used as “historical” design tricks: drop shadows, torn paper edges, vintage typefaces, and the like. The new imagery and content works harder to tell historical stories in a modern and bold way, while still keeping a nod to the past. The updated design now appeals to a younger audience, without alienating the existing fan base.
